I appreciate your honesty. I was a world traveler but stopped because I wanted to settle down and have kids. I thought I would pick it back up after they grew up but now, I've lost the desire, most of it. I actually started my own Substack diving into those feelings and pushing myself to go to the one place that stuck in my mind - FIJI. Truth is that I never stopped traveling but it changed. I ruin cars by the miles we put it on it and when the kids were very little, we couldn't go far since one hated his car seat and cried all the time. The one thing I would suggest, if possible, is move to another country where they are more communal around children. Here in the US, once you have a child it is harder to hang out with friends, go to any activist or religious meetings, basically it is isolating. If you were somewhere where people enjoy children running around and neighbors hang out, you'd be "traveling" and could possibly explore other countries too. I wish you the best and keep us posted!
Love this - made me tear up.
